How to make a Telegram bot with this tool

Type a name, the message people see when they send /start, and the text for /help.
Add your own commands, one per line, in the form command | reply. The line rules | Be kind. creates a /rules command.
Add keyword replies the same way. The bot answers when a message contains that word or phrase.
Tick the optional features you want and watch the preview and the files update.
Press Download ZIP, unzip it, and follow the README inside: create the bot with @BotFather, paste the token into the .env file and start it.

What each option means

Custom commands

Telegram command names may only contain lowercase letters, digits and underscores, up to 32 characters. The tool tidies names for you, so /My Rules becomes /my_rules, and it tells you when a line had to be skipped. The commands also appear in Telegram’s menu button.

Keyword auto-replies

Matching ignores capital letters and looks for whole words, so the keyword hi does not fire on “this”. Only the first matching keyword answers.

Welcome new group members

When someone joins a group the bot is in, it posts your welcome text. {name} becomes their first name and {group} the group’s title.

Delete links from non-admins

In groups, messages with links are removed unless a group admin sent them. The bot must be an admin with the “Delete messages” right for this to work.

Fun commands

/roll rolls a dice (/roll 20 for 20 sides), /flip flips a coin and /pick pizza, pasta chooses for you.

A worked example

Suppose you run a study group. Set the start message to “Hi {name}! Send /help for the timetable commands.” and add these commands:

Typing \n starts a new line in the reply. Add the keyword line exam | The exam is on 14 June. and anyone who mentions “exam” gets the date. If you post the notes link as a picture, our QR code generator can make it scannable.

Tips and limits

The bot only answers while the program is running. Close the window and it goes quiet. For a bot that is always on, run it on a computer or server that stays on.
In groups, Telegram hides normal messages from bots by default. For keyword replies, make the bot an admin or switch off privacy mode with /setprivacy in @BotFather.
Replies are plain text, up to 4,096 characters, which is Telegram’s limit per message.
Your token is a password. Never post it in a chat or upload the .env file.
The generated code was checked against python-telegram-bot 22; if a future version changes its interface, the code may need small updates.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know Python to use this?

No. You install Python once, paste your token into one file and double-click the start script. All the bot’s texts are in config.json, which you can edit like a normal text file.

Why does the tool not ask for my bot token?

A bot token gives full control of the bot, so it should never be typed into a website. The generated project reads it from a .env file that stays on your computer.

Is the bot online all the time?

Only while the program is running. If you close the window or switch off the computer, the bot stops answering until you start it again. For an always-on bot you need a computer or server that stays on.

Why does my bot ignore messages in a group?

Telegram’s privacy mode stops bots from seeing ordinary group messages. Make the bot a group admin, or send /setprivacy to @BotFather and choose Disable, then remove the bot from the group and add it again.

Can I change the replies after downloading?

Yes. Open config.json in any text editor, change the text between the quotes, save it and restart the bot. You do not need to come back to this page.

Which library does the generated bot use?

It uses python-telegram-bot version 21 or newer with its async Application interface. The start scripts install it for you into a private folder next to the bot.
