How to cut a video
- Choose your video. It opens in the player above.
- Play or scrub to where your clip should start and press Set to current next to Start. Do the same for the end. You can also type times like
1:05.5. - Press Cut video and download your MP4 clip.
The first time you use it, your browser downloads the video engine (about 31 MB). After that, it’s cached and starts quickly.
Fast cut or frame-accurate cut?
By default, the cutter copies the video without re-encoding it, which is very fast and keeps the original quality. The only catch is that videos can only be split cleanly at keyframes, so the clip may start up to a couple of seconds away from the time you chose. If you need the exact frame, tick Frame-accurate cut. It re-encodes the clip, which takes longer.
Good to know
- Computers are faster than phones for video work, especially for long or 4K videos.
- Files up to 500 MB are supported. Very large files can run out of browser memory, so trim long recordings in parts.
- Your clip is saved as MP4, which plays on phones, WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube and almost everywhere else.

Why does my clip start slightly earlier than I chose?
Fast cuts can only begin at a keyframe. Tick “Frame-accurate cut” for an exact start, which re-encodes the clip.
Which video formats can I cut?
MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM, MKV and most common formats. The clip is saved as MP4.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, in up-to-date mobile browsers, but large videos are much faster on a computer.
