How to use the time card calculator

  1. Enter the start and end time for each day you worked. Leave days off blank.
  2. Enter unpaid break minutes, such as a 30-minute lunch.
  3. Add your hourly rate to see your gross pay.

Night shifts that end after midnight work too. An end time earlier than the start time is treated as the next day.

How overtime is calculated

In the US, the Fair Labor Standards Act requires overtime at 1.5× the regular rate for non-exempt employees after 40 hours in a workweek. Some states, like California, also have daily overtime rules. Change the threshold and multiplier to match your job.

Pay = regular hours × rate + overtime hours × rate × multiplier

Yes. If the end time is earlier than the start time, it counts through midnight.

Is the pay before or after tax?

Before tax (gross pay). Deductions depend on where you live.
