How days between dates are counted
The calculator counts whole calendar days from the start date up to the end date. From 1 January to 2 January is 1 day. If you tick include the end date, both days are counted, which gives 2. That’s the usual way to count days for events, leave or hotel nights versus holiday days.
Leap years are handled automatically, so February 29 is counted when it exists.
Business days
Business days are Monday to Friday. Public holidays differ by country and state, so they are not removed. Subtract any holidays in your date range yourself.
Common uses

- Notice periods and contract lengths.

Frequently asked questions
Does it count the start date?
It counts the days between the two dates, which excludes one end. Tick “include the end date” to count both.
Are public holidays excluded from business days?
No. Holidays vary by country, so only weekends are removed.
Can the end date be before the start date?
Yes. The dates are swapped automatically and the result is the same.
