How to Merge PDF Files on iPhone (3 Free Ways)

Need to send several PDFs as one file? You don’t need to install an app. Here are three free ways to combine PDFs on an iPhone or iPad.
Method 1: The Files app (quickest)
- Open the Files app and go to the folder with your PDFs. If they’re in different places, move them into one folder first.
- Tap the ⋯ (More) button at the top, then Select.
- Tap the PDFs in the order you want them to appear.
- Tap ⋯ at the bottom right, then Create PDF.
A new combined PDF appears in the same folder. Rename it by pressing and holding it, then tapping Rename. Tip: the order follows the order you tapped, so choose carefully.
Method 2: A browser tool (easiest to reorder)
- Open ToolsCloset Merge PDF in Safari.
- Tap the box and choose your PDFs from Files.
- Use the arrows to put them in order, then tap Merge PDF and download the file.
The merging happens on your iPhone itself; nothing is uploaded to a server, so it’s safe for contracts, bank statements and IDs.
Method 3: The Shortcuts app (for repeat jobs)
If you merge PDFs often, create a shortcut: open Shortcuts, tap +, add the Make PDF action (it combines everything it receives) followed by Save File, and turn on Show in Share Sheet. Then select PDFs in Files, tap Share, and run your shortcut.

- Turn photos into a PDF: in Photos, select images, tap Share → Print, then pinch out on the preview and share the result. Or use JPG to PDF.
- Remove or extract pages: use Split PDF.
