Fahrenheit to Celsius
°C = (°F − 32) × 5 ÷ 9
For example, 72 °F is (72 − 32) × 5 ÷ 9 = 22.2 °C, a comfortable room temperature.
Quick estimate
Double the Celsius and add 30. For 20 °C: 40 + 30 = 70 °F (the exact answer is 68 °F). It’s close enough for weather.
Useful temperatures
- Water freezes at 0 °C (32 °F) and boils at 100 °C (212 °F) at sea level.
- A fever is usually 38 °C (100.4 °F) or higher.
- −40 is the same in both scales.
- Oven: 180 °C is about 350 °F, 200 °C is about 400 °F.
